Naming Ceremony for CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS

Containerships, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, is delighted to celebrate the naming ceremony of their latest LNG-powered vessel, CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS.
- New vessel is the fifth LNG-powered vessel in the Containerships fleet
- First of two LNG-powered vessels being delivered to Containerships in 2021
- Part of the CMA CGM Group’s extensive commitment to sustainability and net-carbon zero emissions, including 26 LNG-powered vessels across the Group

The vessel, the fifth of its kind in the Containerships fleet and the first of two new LNG-powered vessels to arrive in 2021, was delivered at the shipyard of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, in China and is expected to begin operating in Europe in late March under the Containerships brand.

Naming ceremony for CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS
CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS was named after the stars that guide seafarers in open seas and is capable of carrying 1,400 TEUs on board. It is part of the CMA CGM Group’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and will be part of a fleet of 26 LNG-powered vessels flying the CMA CGM flag by 2022.

Ms. Bin Li, General Manager of Midea International Logistics Technology Co., Ltd, a Fortune 500 company of 52 years in the manufacture of global leading robotics and automated technology, was invited by the CMA CGM Group to be the godmother of CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS. On this special occasion, she named the vessel and blessed both the vessel and crew ahead of their journey to Europe in the next few days.
